Release J6 Political Prisoners
Call for the immediate release or fair and speedy trials of January 6 defendants. Demand full public release of all Capitol surveillance footage.
The Problem
Hundreds of Americans who were present at the Capitol on January 6, 2021 have been subjected to treatment that would shock the conscience of any fair-minded person. Many have been held in pretrial detention for years in conditions that have been condemned by human rights organizations. Defendants have been denied speedy trials, held in solitary confinement, denied adequate medical care, and subjected to physical abuse. Meanwhile, the full record of Capitol surveillance footage has been suppressed, with only selected clips released to support the government's narrative. Many defendants face charges wildly disproportionate to their actual conduct, while those who committed similar or worse acts during the 2020 riots faced minimal consequences.
The Resolution
“We the People call for the immediate release or fair and speedy trials of all January 6 defendants who remain in custody. We demand the full, unredacted public release of all Capitol surveillance footage from January 6. Equal justice under law requires that these Americans receive the same treatment as any other defendants — not worse treatment because of their political beliefs. Justice delayed is justice denied.”
